anti-book-snob
For some reason I find fantasy books much more believable than mainstream fiction. I mostly read fantasy and all sub-genres but if overwhelmed with curiosity I'll occasionally read a 'norm' book.
I am an author also but I am mostly on this site to connect as a reader.
Beyond the Highland Mist
So I was feeling wistful, thinking I wish I could read a series like Moning's Fever Series ( [b:Darkfever|112750|Darkfever (Fever, #1)|Karen Marie Moning|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1320533920s/112750.jpg|108558] ) so I started reading this one. Not quite. It reminded me of when I watched all Miyazaki's early films, you can see glimmers of the future genius, it just hasn't broken through yet. There was a lot of dialogue and situations which felt tired, if you know what I mean.
However, this book is very readable. I stayed up late into the night and finished it in about 2 days. Lots of tension.
The POV (Point Of View) has a lot of head-hopping (switching perspectives constantly) which is not my favorite POV style, yet it doesn't get confusing.
